You can get either a multiple-entry or a single entry visa. The former lets you enter and leave Canada, generally for six months at a time, without the need of reapplying. This visa stays valid for up to 10 years, or a month prior to the expiry of your passport, whichever comes first. However, you must come to Canada on or before the date of your visa’s expiry. With a single-entry visa, you can enter Canada only once. And after you leave (excluding travel to the St. Pierre and Miquelon, USA), you would need a new visa to come back to Canada.
